Breaking into the world of affiliate marketing is something that I have wanted to do for more than 20 years. But, being a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom to five rambunctious, highly creative and talented boys was always my priority – my dreams took a backseat.
They are now grown and beginning families of their own, so I guess I can say, it’s my turn. That, and I have far-surpassed the half-century mark and wondering where the hell my life has gone. I suppose at some point in every human’s life, those same thoughts creep up and nag at a body until the answer is satisfied.
The Spark
I grew up in a house of 13 adults – business owners and accountants. I believe the seed to be my own boss was planted early on in life – or perhaps it’s a part of my genetic makeup. Like many stay-at-home moms and military spouses, I dabbled (and failed) in direct sales and MLMs.
I’m not much of a salesman. If you like the product, then it sells itself. If it doesn’t turn you on, then who am I to convince you that you need said product in your life? Discovery Toys, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Amway – you name it. I’ve been there, done that and got the products. Never made money on any of it (probably because I was always buying product for my own self).
Over the years, I have been following people who have trail blazed the blogging world and those who leveraged affiliate marketing. I believe I have obtained enough knowledge to completely fill all 32 volumes of Encyclopedia Britannica. It’s time I get out of my head.
The Spark – Reignited
I knew that if others could generate an income online (while in their jammies), I could, too. I knew I needed to stand on the shoulders of giants. If I took everything I learned previously, and copied what the experts in the industry were already doing, I knew I could stamp my own logo on the digital highway. And in turn, be a model of inspiration for those, like myself, who may be starting out a little later in life.
People Always Ask Me
They say, “Well, you got started in 2019. The market is saturated. I’d never stand a chance!”
But the funny thing is that it’s easier than ever to make money online. Why? There’s two simple reasons:
- More products are being sold online now. Since COVID in 2020, people have shifted their shopping habits online.
- With social media, it is easier than ever to start an online business. Many moons ago, you needed to be internet savvy. Nowadays, there are drag-and-drop and automation tools that make it so much easier to create a money-generating website.
The market will never be saturated. How many billions of people have you not gotten your message to yet? It’s easier than ever to follow a guidebook to get where you want to go.
Making money from your blog is pretty simple, but it takes a lot of work. Don’t expect this to be a get-rich-quick thing. If you’re ready to put in the hours consistently over the next year or two, I’m ready to share my knowledge with you and help you start earning money on the internet, through your own blog.
